The PMC Pharmacy is responsible for specialty compounding, storing, sterilized preparation, distributing, charging, and providing consultations on all the medications that a provider has ordered to be given to all patients in the clinic, ER, inpatients and other ambulatory patients including chemotherapy.
The pharmacists and technician even prepare prescriptions for emergencies and for use when no other area pharmacy is open. Working with both PMC and Avera ePharmacists, every inpatient medication order is reviewed by a pharmacist before the first dose. Pharmacist consultation is also available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
PMC pharmacists check medication regimens for drug interactions, medication and dose optimization, and safety. The pharmacy also helps develop guidelines and assists with advanced clinical decisions such as dosing for kidney function and treating local antibiotic resistance patterns.
PMC pharmacy also provides education to other healthcare professionals and precepts pharmacy technician students from nearby TMCC.
